Learning Exchange: Strengthening Community Resilience

April 4

Free

Storm Eowyn exposed critical weaknesses in emergency response, communication, and infrastructure support for rural communities. Across Argyll and Bute, residents faced similar struggles, highlighting significant gaps in emergency communication, power security, and welfare support. With extreme weather events—windstorms, flooding, and landslides—becoming more frequent due to climate change, ensuring the resilience of our communities is more urgent than ever.

Join us for a Learning Exchange focused on strengthening community resilience in rural areas. This event will bring together local groups, and community leaders to share experiences, lessons learned, and best practices for improving preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.

Why Attend?

  • Learn from real-life experiences of communities impacted by recent power outages and extreme weather events.
  • Explore the challenges and opportunities of emergency planning.
  • Discover practical solutions, such as resilience hubs, off-grid village halls, backup power systems, and emergency planning strategies.
  • Connect with other communities to exchange ideas and collaborate on long-term resilience initiative
