Art exhibition – The Argyll Collection

As part of the Royal Scottish Academy’s 200 anniversary celebrations, CHARTS are programming a tour of artworks to community venues across Argyll & Bute. The Argyll Collection consists of around 179 museum-worthy artworks by artists such as Joan Eardly, Elizabeth Blackadder, John Byrne, Anne Redpath and many more. The pieces were collected between 1960 – 1990 by the author Naomi Mitchison and Dunoon based Art Advisor Jim Tyre. The Collection is on tour to community venues around Argyll & Bute, to make it possible for the region’s young people to access art and historic collections without financial and logistic barriers.

The exhibition will consist of a display of between 1 -4 pieces, with an informal talk by CHARTS project manager, Ros McKenna on the history of the collection and the works on display.
